🔒 100% client-side processing. Your model is processed in this browser tab and is never uploaded to any server.
PLY is the lingua franca of 3D scanning and photogrammetry — which also makes it one of the heaviest formats you'll ever deal with. Raw scans carry millions of vertices, each with position, normal and color data, stored uncompressed.
This PLY compressor welds duplicate vertices, prunes unused attributes and re-encodes the mesh into a compact GLB with Draco or meshopt compression. Vertex colors are preserved where present, and typical scans shrink by 80–90%.
Compress PLY when you need to:
- Share photogrammetry output without cloud-drive bottlenecks
- View scans on the web with standard GLB viewers
- Fit scan archives into reasonable storage budgets
How to Compress a 3D Model Online
Upload your PLY file
Drag the file onto the drop zone or click to browse. It is processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
Choose a compression preset
Pick Light for gentle cleanup, Balanced for the best size-to-quality trade-off, or Max for the smallest possible file.
Download the optimized model
Preview the result, check the size savings and download. If the file cannot shrink further, you get the original back.

Every format gets its own optimization pipeline — pick yours.
3D Compression — Frequently Asked Questions
How do I compress a PLY file?+
Upload the PLY to the tool above, pick a preset and compress. Vertices are deduplicated and the mesh is re-encoded into an optimized GLB locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Does compression keep vertex colors?+
Yes — per-vertex color attributes are carried over into the output wherever the GLB pipeline supports them, so colored scans keep their appearance.
Can I compress PLY point clouds?+
This tool works on mesh geometry. If your PLY is a pure point cloud, first mesh it with your scanning software (most can), then compress the mesh here.
What output format do I get?+
An optimized GLB — the most compatible format for viewing and sharing scans on the web. Geometry, normals and colors are preserved; only redundant data and size disappear.
