Can I print a model straight from my website's GLTF asset?

Why is the STL smaller than the GLTF when textures were dropped?

Textures and PBR data are most of a modern asset's weight; the mesh alone is comparatively light. STL keeps only that mesh, so dramatic size drops are normal. If the STL is unexpectedly huge, the model itself is high-poly and may want decimation before printing.

My GLTF model is textured — will the print show any of it?

No. STL carries triangle positions exclusively; textures, materials and colors are invisible to it. The print takes color from filament or resin. If color matters, you're on the wrong route — look at multi-material slicers fed by GLB where supported.

What does the STL do about my scene's multiple nodes and transforms?

Everything bakes into world space: node transforms apply, then vertices freeze. The STL is one triangle soup regardless of how organized the GLTF scene was — perfect for slicing, useless for editing structure.

How do I get a specific animation frame as the printed pose?

The converter outputs the scene's default (usually rest) state. Bake the desired frame into vertex positions upstream — glTF-aware tools like Blender's glTF importer let you apply a clip at a chosen frame, then re-export before converting.

Will the STL be millimeter-scale like my usual print files?

Yes — glTF's meters map to slicer millimeters at ×1000, matching what you'd get from any CAD export. Sanity-check the bounding box in the slicer anyway: glTF files from AI generators sometimes carry non-physical scale that makes 'correct' units look wrong.
