My STL had no units — what size does the GLB use?

STL is unitless; the converter assumes millimeters, the 3D-printing convention, and maps them to GLB's meters at 0.001 scale. A 40-unit benchy becomes a 4 cm model. If your source was authored in inches or meters, scale accordingly after download.

What happens to holes and non-manifold shells in my print file?

Conversion re-triangulates the surface but does not repair it: inverted normals, self-intersections and open edges pass through untouched. Slicers tolerate broken shells better than web viewers, so run mesh repair first if the preview looks inside-out or flickering.
